Rock River Falls

Rock River falls is a wide 15-foot cascade along the Rock River in the Rock River Canyon Wilderness near Chatham, Michigan.

The Rock River Canyon Wilderness is centered upon the Rock River and Silver Creek as they meander through 150-foot-deep sandstone canyons which features Rock River Falls, a 15-foot cascade along the Rock River, Ginpole Lake, and the famed Eben ice caves.

As the waterfall is located in a wilderness, there are no official trail markers. From the trailhead along Forest Road 2293, a wide path descends south along an old roadbed to the bottom of a hill. An informal path continues along the bank of the river to Rock River Falls.

From MI Route 28 at Au Train, follow Arbutus Street / Autrain Forest Lake Road south for 4.2 miles. Turn right onto Buck Bay Road / Forest Road 2276 and continue west for 2.2 miles. Turn right onto Rock River Road and then left onto Johnson Lake Tower Road / Forest Road 437 and continue northwest for 3.7 miles. Turn left onto Forest Road 2293. The Rock River Falls trailhead is on the left.
