Nestled among towering pines and a healthy mix of hardwoods, the waterfall is best seen in the rainy spring season or during Autumn when the colors on the hardwood leaves change.
From the Lower Falls parking area, follow Trail 1 (Gorge Trail) heading south and west along the Genesee River rim. The wide and meandering trail, which cuts through some pavilions and a playground, eventually narrows down to a single track trail before splitting. Follow Trail 6A (Lower Falls Trail) down a set of stairs to a platform of bare rock. Lower Falls Trail continues to another staircase and through a large fissure towards a viewing area and an arch bridge that was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The view of the waterfall is directly to the west.
