Taughannock Falls is the most popular waterfall at its namesake park in New York. Roaring during the spring but still presenting a decent flow during the hotter and dryer summer months, the waterfall is easily one of the most visited in the region, if not the state. Taughannock Creek winds its way through an ever deepening gorge from Trumansburg eastward to Cayuga Lake.
At the base of Taughannock Falls is a deep pool with a scattering of large boulders from rock falls.
The waterfall can be accessed from the Gorge Trail. It is a one-mile hike from the Gorge Trail parking area to the base of the waterfall.
