Pocket Falls consists of a 35-foot fan and 5-foot cascade waterfall in the Edward Lake Cliffs Natural Area in Lansing, New York.
Located just north of Ithaca, Edward Lake Cliffs Natural Area features outstanding Tully limestone cliffs along Cayuga Lake, a 35-foot-high waterfall along Gulf Creek within Shurger Glen, successional forests, meadows, and shrub thickets.
The nature preserve was donated by Donald and Helen T. Edwards in 2003 and is named after them.
To visit the top of Pocket Falls, start from the parking area at Teeter Road and Smuggler’s Path and follow the Red Trail through a successional forest for approximately 1,500 feet. Bear right onto the Blue Trail to enter the forested ravine and follow for 1,200 feet to the path’s end at Gulf Creek.
From NY Route 13 in Ithaca, follow NY Route 34 north for 3.8 miles. Turn left onto East Shore Circle and follow for .2 mile. Bear left onto Teeter Road. Follow to a small parking area at the 90° curve located at the junction of Teeter Road and Smuggler’s Path.
